William Watson Duke, resident of Wetumpka Alabama, passed away on September 24, 2024, at the age of 81.
Wiliam was born and raised in Lake City, South Carolina. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1961. William was a proud alumnus of The Citadel Class of 1965, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. William received a Masters Degree from Webster College in 1967. William retired honorably from the United States Air Force and made his home in Alabama, where he was last stationed. William loved the outdoors and spent many hours at his hunting club working or stalking the elusive deer and turkey.
Mr. Duke is preceded in death by his first wife, Julie Eugenia Parks Duke; his thir wife Linda Jean Smith Duke; his parents, Watson Brown Duke and Mary Dunlap Duke; and his brother, Thomas Julius Duke.
He is survived by his son, William Watson Duke Ii (Amanda); his daughter, Dixie Allison Duke (Melissa); his stepson, Robert Lenn (Ana); his brother, Julius Zeno Duke; two nephews, Julius Zeno Duke Ii, and Charles Benjamin Duke; his seven grandchilden.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 1:15 PM at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama. Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.
