Provisional Appointments of admission to the S.C. Corps of Cadets may be awarded to the infant sons, daughters, grandsons or granddaughters of Citadel alumni. A student who has reached his/her 14th birthday is no longer eligible for Provisional Appointment. Students who receive a Provisional Appointment must still apply to The Citadel and must meet all admission requirements for the cadet class that he or she is applying to join. The Citadel will guarantee a place in the Corps of Cadets for any Provisional Appointee who meets all admission requirements if an application portfolio is submitted and completed prior to January 25 of the applicant’s senior year in high school. Once admitted as a cadet, the student must satisfactorily meet all criteria for continuance–academic, conduct and military. Forms to request a Provisional Appointment are available through the Office of Admissions or via The Citadel Alumni Association website. You may contact Admissions at 1-800-868-1842, through e-mail at [email protected] or by U.S. mail at 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, S.C. 29409.
If you move after the provisional appointment is awarded, be sure to update the address for your provisional appointee with the Admissions Office. You can send the change of address to [email protected]. Put in the subject line “Provisional Address Change” and be sure to include the old and new address and the new phone number.
I understand that this application obligates the applicant in no way whatsoever but that The Citadel agrees to reserve a place if the academic and physical requirements in effect at the time of official application are met. This should be further confirmed by regular application no later than January 25th prior to the opening of the session for which the applicant is to enter.
I also understand that The Citadel must receive this form prior to the applicant’s fourteenth birthday.
