Scott Tucker, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend to all, passed into eternal life on March 7, 2019. The relatives and friends of Scott Tucker are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial, to be celebrated 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Summerall Chapel- The Citadel, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston. The Rite of Committal will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort. The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00 PM Monday, with a 7:30 PM Rosary, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. Scott, was active in the Charleston community particularly with his alma mater, The Citadel, where he served as the longest running Alumni Association President and board member. He was part of the founding board of the Harbor Club and served as President. He was active in the Hibernian Society, Exchange Club, Washington Light Infantry (recently inducted) and served as the Stray Dogs Chairperson. Scott also was an Air Force officer on the Mountain Home Air Force base in Idaho.
Scott was born to the late Major General Reuben Tucker, III and Helen McAllister Tucker on May 18, 1948 in Westpoint, NY. He was a graduate and class president of Bishop England High School, graduated the Citadel (Class of ‘70) as well as earned an MBA from the University of Utah. He began his career as a banker for Liberty National Bank and moved onto become president of another local bank and later became owner and CEO of CCRLC.
He was formerly married to Mary Linda Bercume and then later to Martha “Martie” Orton Tucker of Charleston and had four children, Kelly Ann Tucker and the late David B. Tucker, Beth Virginia Wheeler and Alissa Reines Leeman (Zachary). He was the adoring Papa to his six grandchildren.
He is survived by his 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren and brothers Jeff and Chris (Mary Ann) Tucker. Memorials can be made to The Palmetto Ring Fund at The Citadel Alumni Association (www.Foundation.Citadel.edu).
