Robert (Bob) Furman Nance, age 77, peacefully passed away on July 26, 2025. He was born on April 11, 1948, in Columbia, South Carolina. Bob graduated from A. C. Flora High School and was a graduate of The Citadel. An avid hunter, he enjoyed the outdoors and would often sit in his deer stand until late evening just listening to the sounds of the forest. To paraphrase some of the thoughts his daughter, Lauren, wrote of him: Daddy could play various instruments, was bilingual, and had a host of hobbies, all of which he excelled. He was a gifted man, a man of true humility and great faith. He deeply loved each and every member of his very large family and took great delight in his kitties: Clyde, Otis, Bella, and Will Farrell. As Lauren said, “My Dad finished well.” A private family burial will be held at Fairfield Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday morning, July 30, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion Street, Columbia, South Carolina, at 2:00 p.m. Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy; his daughter, Lauren Elizabeth; son, Robert, and his wife, Desiree, and their five children, James, Daniel, Joshua, David, and Ruth. He is also survived by his brothers: Ned, Tim (Rosemary), Chris (Faye), and Pat (Carolyn). He is also survived by numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert (Bob) Brown and Edna Earle (Teddy) Burriss Nance, and sister-in-law, Beth Nance. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29201, or to a charity of one’s choice.
