Joseph Gerard Quigg, 65, of El Paso, TX, passed away unexpectedly February 4, 2022. He was born on March 03, 1956, in Teaneck, NJ, to Joseph E. and Doris Quigg, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma, of 32 years, his only son Joseph, sister Marian Lawton, (H) Chris, Sarasota, FL, niece Kathryn Peterson, (H) Ian, Tallahassee, FL, niece Allison Lawton, Sarasota, FL, (BIL) Hector Guzman, (W) Mirta, El Paso, TX, (SIL) Alba Guzman, El Paso, TX, along with many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and relatives, who will cherish his memory.
Joe grew up on the East Coast, graduating high school, in Lakeland, FL, after which attending the prestigious Military College of South Carolina, “The Citadel”, where he was a member of Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity. After graduating as a military officer (1st LT.), Joe went on to serve our country for 32 years in federal government. First the Marines, then the Navy, and lastly Homeland Security, from which he retired 9 years ago.
He was a parishioner of San Francisco de Assisi, Catholic Church. Joe and family loved to travel, especially to Mexico, and lived in many places, but came to call El Paso home for good in 2006. He was a man of few words, but once you got to know him, he was like your best friend like family.
A Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home- West with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at San Francisco de Assisi, Catholic Church, 5750 Doniphan, El Paso, Texas 79932. Services are entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home- West.
