Joseph Davis “Jody” Miot, III of Columbia, South Carolina died peacefully on December 3, 2025 after a long journey with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was the son of Joseph Davis Miot, Jr. and Edwina Fitler Miot.
Jody was born in Florence, grew up in Columbia and graduated from A.C. Flora High School where he made many life-long friends. Jody was a joyful, humorous man who never met a stranger. He was a dedicated husband and proud father to his three beautiful daughters: Cam, Elisa and Laura. He treasured special family events where he was known for his personal toasts while upholding family traditions. He also enjoyed listening to his elaborate collection of all music genres, shagging with his girls, and spending many hours on the South Carolina beaches with his family.
In addition to his parents, Jody is predeceased by his sister Andy Miot Garrett (Skipper).
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Marianne Cole Miot; his sister Glenn Miot Cannon (Jim), three daughters, Cam Choate (Culver), Elisa Lumpkin (Glenn) and Laura Irick (Charlie); eight grandchildren, Paul and Campbell Choate, Emma, Davis and Cole Lumpkin, and Mary Mac, Lillian and Bo Irick; and many nieces and nephews.
