John “Jack” Franklin Disharoon, Jr., 90, of North Charleston, SC, died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Trident Hospital in North Charleston, SC. He graduated from William Jewell College in Liberty, MO with a Bachelor’s degree and received a Master’s degree from The Citadel in Charleston, SC. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. He was a WWII veteran and served his country as a pilot and as a meteorologist. He taught mathematics at the former Garrett High School in North Charleston and retired after 20 years. Jack was a regular member and participant in churches throughout his lifetime. He was a member of West Ashley Independent Baptist Church of North Charleston; and was blessed by the friendship and spiritual guidance of Pastor Thomas Sims and wife Marilyn. He is survived by his college sweetheart, Katherine “Kitty” Lily Jones, to whom he was happily married for 69 years; son, Ross Hunter Disharoon and daughter-in-law Joyce (King) Disharoon of Hanahan, SC; relatives of his daughter-in-law and dear friends, Hoyle Ray King of Chattanooga, TN and Denice Darlene King of Cleveland, TN. He was predeceased by his parents, John Franklin Disharoon, Sr. and Maude Thornhill Disharoon of Gray Summit, MO; and by parents-in-law, Glen W. and Anna Blue Jones of North Charleston. The family expresses their gratitude for the professional and loving care provided at White Oak Manor of Charleston and at Trident Hospital.
