JERRY S. DOUGHTY Funeral services for Jerry Stanley Doughty, 55, were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church. The Rev. Kathy Campbell officiated, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves St., Florence, SC 29506, or The Pilot Club, c/o Janie Cambell, 2045 E. Carolina Ave., Hartsville, SC 29550. Mr. Doughty died Friday, Aug. 19. He was born in Florence, a son of the late John Harold and Bessie Lou Tarte Doughty. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church of Florence. He attended McClenaghan High School in Florence, and was graduated from The Citadel. Upon graduation he served in the U.S. Air Force and obtained a master’s degree in engineering, a MBA from the University of South Carolina after leaving the Air Force, and retired from Sonoco as an engineer. Surviving are his wife, Olivia G. Doughty of Hartsville; son, Trent Doughty of Columbia; daughter, Kimberly D. Newsome of Hartsville; brother, John H. Doughty of Cary, N.C.; grandson, Graham Pinner Newsome; special friends, Theresa Sanderford and Jean Dennis. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Touchberry.
