Gregory Forrest Pope, 19, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 23, 2003. Forrest was a second year cadet at the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. He died in a car accident as he was traveling home to be with his family for Thanksgiving. Though his life was short, he has left behind many wonderful memories that his family and friends will forever cherish. He is survived by his mother and father, Suzanne Fields Pope and Gregory Mayron Pope; a sister, Mary Carmen Pope of Wilmington; his maternal grandparents, William B. Fields and Rachel P. Fields of Pikeville; and his paternal grandparents, Mayron Pope and Ruby Pope of Goldsboro. Funeral services will be at Nahunta Friends Church on Tuesday, November 25, 2003, at 7 p.m. with Ken Spivey and Greg Peele officiating. Family will receive friends after the service. Interment will be at Wayne Memorial Park on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at 11 a.m.
