Sister Beulah Gaillard Steward, a resident of Pineville, SC, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 25 th , 2022 at Low Country Community Hospice service of Goose Creek, SC. Sister Beulah was born on December 26, 1930, in Pineville, SC to the late Relious and Martha Jefferson Gaillard. Sister Beulah accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Day Dawn Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her passing. Sister Beulah was a dedicated member of the Sunday School, the senior choir and the Junior/Senior Missionary Board. Sister Beulah attended public school in Berkeley County before she went on to continue her education at Morris College, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Education. Sister Beulah then received her Masters of Education degree from the Citadel of Charleston. Sister Beulah was joined in holy matrimony to Eddie Steward on January 31, 1954. To this union they had one daughter, Sharon Brown (Steward). Sister Beulah taught in Berkeley County Public Schools and retired after teaching for 31 years. She was one of the founding leaders of the Pineville-Russellville Girl Scout Troops, the first black troops in the area, and served as a Girl Scout leader for 45 years. Sister Beulah enjoyed doing many crafts and spent time in her flower gardens tending to her flowers. Her greatest joy life was her grandchildren. Among those left to cherish Beulah’s memories are: her daughter, Sharon (Anthony) Brown of Maryland; step-son, Alphonsa Pinckney of New York; one sister, Rebecca M. Gaillard of Pineville; three grandchildren, Maurice and Brandi Brown of Maryland and Keith Pinckney of Tennessee; five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Viewing will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home (Moncks Corner). Graveside Service will be held Friday, January 28, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at Pineville Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Pineville, SC. Please wear a face mask and practice social distancing. The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home’s Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/gethersfh . Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is not receiving visitors at the residence. They are grateful for your prayers and understanding during this difficult time.
