Arthur Willcox Jr., of Dallas, Texas, known affectionately to his family, friends, and grandchildren as “Chig,” passed away peacefully at his home in Dallas, Texas, on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the age of 82. He was surrounded by the family who meant the world to him.
Born on May 23, 1943, to Arthur Willcox Sr. and Emmarie Willcox, Chig was a man of character and dedication. He was a proud graduate of The Citadel and carried the values of his education into his honorable service in the United States Army. On July 1, 1992, Chig married his devoted wife, Terry, beginning a chapter of life defined by loyalty and love.
Whether he was chasing the perfect round in his weekly golf game with friends or enjoying the cool breezes of Lake Michigan, Chig found his greatest peace outdoors. He was most at home on his patio in Dallas, where he served as the true centerpiece of the family. Known as “Chig” for most of his life, he was a man who lived for the simple joys: the ritual of cocktail hour, the smell of a cookout, and sharing s’mores with his grandchildren. To those who knew him best, Chig was a constant source of support, remembered for his dry, sarcastic wit and for being the heart of every gathering.
He is survived by his wife, Terry Willcox; his sons, Eric and Jeff Willcox; his stepson, Mike King; and his brother, George Willcox. His legacy lives on through the seven grandchildren who will forever miss their Chig: Conner King, Abby Willcox, Cade King, Brooke Willcox, Cameron King, Shaylin Willcox, and Tyler Willcox.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Sr. and Emmarie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Chig’s memory to the Fisher House Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting military and veteran families.
