On March 16, 1973, The Citadel Armory was renamed McAlister Field House in honor of COL David S. McAlister, USA, Ret., The Citadel Class of 1924. McAlister served The Citadel for 48 years in a variety of capacities. He was an outstanding track and baseball athlete, served as faculty representative to the Southern Conference and was the executive secretary-treasurer of the league.

The Citadel Army ROTC Palmetto Battalion had the honor of hosting LTG E. Miles Brown, USA, ’95, the Deputy Commanding General of Army Futures Command and an alumnus of the program. During his visit, Brown engaged with The Citadel’s Defense Cyber Institute, had lunch with Army cadets, and provided an update on the future of the Army for soon-to-be second lieutenants. He also fielded questions and led a battalion run for morning PT. Brown concluded his visit by attending the annual Senior Dining Out, where he graciously served as the guest speaker.
