On January 25, 2014, The Citadel Athletic Department honored the Class of 1964 Golf Team with a banner in McAlister Field House. The '64 golfers were the only golf team to win the Southern Conference championship.

January 24, 2010: The movie, Dear John, which shot in the Infirmary on The Citadel's campus and other locations around town, premiered in Charleston at the Hippodrome (formerly located at the Charleston Aquarium) and unseated Avatar as the No. 1 movie in America when it was released nationwide in February 2010.
