The Citadel Alumni Association Contributes to Scholarships

The Citadel Alumni Association capped off a banner year of giving at its annual membership meeting. The Association will contribute $900,000 to support college operations, CAA legacy cadet and need-based scholarships, and enhance The Citadel’s Service to Country Tuition Scholarships and National Service Room and Board Scholarships for ROTC cadets.

LTG John F. Kimmons, USA, Ret., '74

LTG Kimmons dedicated 35 years to the U.S. Army, retiring on December 1, 2010, after a career marked by leadership and integrity.

From leading troops during Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada as a Company Commander in the 82nd Airborne Division, to serving as the Army's Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Commanding General of INSCOM, and Chief of Staff to the Director of National Intelligence—Kimmons made a lasting impact on national security.

His distinguished service was recognized with numerous awards, including:
🎖️ Distinguished Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster
🎖️ Defense Superior Service Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters
🎖️ Legion of Merit with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters
🎖️ Bronze Star
