The Citadel Alumni Association Contributes to Scholarships

The Citadel Alumni Association capped off a banner year of giving at its annual membership meeting. The Association will contribute $900,000 to support college operations, CAA legacy cadet and need-based scholarships, and enhance The Citadel’s Service to Country Tuition Scholarships and National Service Room and Board Scholarships for ROTC cadets.

  • Lt Col Charles D. Hodges, USAF, ’00, served as the U.S. mission commander for the 353rd Special Operations Group, based at Kadena Air Base in Japan, during the 2018 Tham Luang cave rescue in northern Thailand. The mission successfully rescued 12 boys and their soccer coach from the flooded cave between July 8 and 10, 2018.

  • The Gold Star San Antonio Citadel Alumni Club, led by CAPT Rodney E. Tugade, USN, Ret., ’90; Maj Christopher S. Tarrant, USAF, ’96; Brett A. Lipscomb, ’20; and Franklin A. (Drew) Borders, ’09; hosted nearly 40 alumni, cadets, prospective cadets and parents for their Cadet Send-Off at the Original Rudy’s Bar-B-Q in Leon Springs, Texas. Cadet Recruits Zen Manning and Reilly Milligan attended, along with their parents and the parents of Cadet Recruit Aiden Leal. Current Cadets Joshua C. Kent, ’26; and Austin J. Jones, ’28; were also present. They, along with other San Antonio-area cadets, will help the Class of 2029 Cadet Recruits get off to a solid start. The senior Gold Corps alumnus in attendance was James T. Frank, ’67. The event was organized by parent, Kristen Kent.
