William Scofield Flanigen, 82, of Glassy Orchard Road, Tiger., Georgia., died Thursday November 3, 2016 at his home.
He was born in Atlanta, Georgia., November 10, 1933 to the late John M. Flanigen and Hannah Scofield Flanigen. He lived in Rabun for several years. He was a writer for the U.S. Treasury Department. He was a Korean War Veteran in the U.S. Air Force and a Ham Radio Operator and was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church of Clayton, Georgia.
Mr. Flanigen was preceded in death by sisters, Anna Scott and Charlotte Zartman and is survived by his wife, Mary Kinman Flanigen of the home., one son, William Scofield Flanigen, Jr., of Henderson, NC., three daughters, Mary Gagnon of Ellicott City, MD., Bonnie Jean Morris of Kenmore, N.Y., and Elizabeth Stevena of Nevada., one brother, Rev. John M. Flanigen of Rome, GA., nine grandchildren, Mary, Bill, David, Beckay, Patrick, Eddie, Matthew, Johnny and Carolyn.
The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday November 9, 2016 at the St. James Episcopal Church with interment in the garden of St. James Church. Brother Steven Hall will officiate.
