William G. Kuchenbrod, of Dana Point, Calif., died Nov. 2, 1994. Born January 18, 1950, William George “Bill” Kuchenbrod was a native of Keansburg, Monmouth, New Jersey. He attended The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina from 1968-1972. He was graduated from The Citadel May 20, 1972 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Education and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army the same day. While at The Citadel he was a member of Romeo Company, Fourth Battalion. He was a cadet Private his freshman and sophomore years and a cadet Sergeant his junior year. He was a Senior Private. He was active in many campus activities and organizations during his four years at The Citadel including the Sailing Team, the Semper Fidelis Society, the Calliopean Literary Society, the Citadel Sport Parachute Club, the Ranger-Airborne Society, the Scuba Club, the Physics Club, the Karate Team, the Students’ National Education Association, the Big Brother Program, and the Philosophy Club. He was a member of the Pistol Team as well. He was on the Dean’s List as a sophomore. (Source: The 1972 Sphinx, page 261)
Following graduation from The Citadel he served in the U.S. Army and attained the rank of First Lieutenant. At the time of his death he was a resident of Laguna Beach, California and was an osteopathic physician and surgeon licensed by the Osteopathic Medical Board of California (Orange County). His last known residence was 265 Laguna Avenue, Laguna Beach, CA 92651.
He died November 2, 1994 at the age of 44 and is buried at the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California. His cremated remains are marked by a Veterans’ Administration white marble plaque in a niche at Plot CBD, 1, 375. He was an adherent of the Christian faith.
