William “Bill” Edwards Perkins, Jr., 83 years of age, of Geneva, Fla., passed away of complications brought on by Alzheimer’s on September, 26, 2018. Born on February 25, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio to William and Margaret. His family moved to York, PA where he made cherished memories as a boy. At 12 years of age, they settled in Orlando and opened the Schwinn Cyclery store on Mills Ave. Bill attended Edgewater High School graduating in 1953 then attended the Citadel graduating in 1957. Bill took over the bike business and grew it to include 5 additional locations. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He is survived by his wife, Judy, her children, Greg and Pam Johnson of Orlando, his 3 children and their families, Emily Perkins, husband Larry Wydetic, children Taylor, Mitchell and Grace of Tampa; Margaret Perkins Alhart, husband Peter, children Kaitlin and Kyle of Bend, OR; and Will Perkins of Winter Park. He is also survived by his brother Daniel Perkins, wife Leann of Winter Garden and sister Susan Perkins Christensen, husband Fred of Lake Wylie, SC. He and Judy enjoyed boating, RVing and mostly their beautiful place on the lake. We will miss his love, humor and ear wiggling. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at The First United Methodist Church of Orlando on October 4th at 10am located downtown at 142 E.
