William B. Gundrum Jr., 88, of Scotch Plains, NJ, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Born and raised in Westfield he lived there until moving to Scotch Plains in 1989. He returned to Westfield in Fall, 2012. Friends are invited to visit 4-8PM Friday at the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Ave. West in Cranford. A Requiem Eucharist will be 10 AM Saturday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Westfield. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. Mr Gundrum had been a safety engineer for the Department of Defense. A 1949 graduate of The Citadel with a Bachelors degree in civil engineering, he was an Army veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, a recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart who retired with the rank of Major. He was a Eucharistic Minister, an usher, and a lector at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Westfield. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathleen, in 1988. Surviving are, his devoted son, William B. III and his wife Monica and 3 loving grandchildren, Kristen, Jason, and Ryan. Tags: 1949
