Husband of 62 years of the love of his life, Anyce Getzug Lavigne;father of Leslie Rothschild (Pierre), Morley Klausner (Peter), Shelly Rifkin and Elliot Lavigne (Ellen). Grandfather of Nathalie and David Rothschild, Erica Rosenfeld, Devon and Dana Rifkin and Talli Daniel, Jennifer and Donald S. Lavigne. Great-grandfather of Hannah Daniel, Ellie Rifkin and Nathan Rothschild-Lenoir. Brother of Gladys Cowen. Miami resident since 1923. Patriotic son of a Russian tailor, graduate of Gordon Military Academy and The Citadel, the class that never was (1944). Joined the Marine Corps in 1944. Commanding Officer of 105th Howitzer Division. CEO of Donald S. Lavigne Uniforms, Inc., world traveler, his latest trip being to Uganda 9 months ago, one of the world’s greatest raconteurs, prolific writer of letters to the Editor of The Miami Herald, and suffered a strong addition to CNN, a man with a tremendous sense of irony, humor, and wit, avid reader and amateur horticulturist, loved living on the edge to the extent that he celebrated his 80th birthday by parachuting from 3500 feet with two of his granddaughters. Funeral services will be at Temple Israel on November 23, at 10:00 a.m., located at 137 N.E. 19th Street; burial will be at Mt. Nebo Cemetery, 5505 N.W. 3rd St. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Oxfam, an organization that his granddaughter, Natalie Rothschild, is associated with in Indonesia. Oxfam is a worldwide organization dedicated to providing aid to over 70 countries. Oxfam uses a range of approaches to achieve change and improve peoples lives, including saving lives through emergency response, long term development programs, and campaigning to achieve lasting change.
