Wallace C. Wally Collins Jr., 82, of Delaware, died Tuesday evening (Jan. 28, 2003) at Willow Brook Christian Village following an extended illness. He was born on Aug. 22, 1920, in Louisville, Ky., to Wallace C. and Lucile Hitt Collins, and grew up in Shelbyville, Ky. He graduated from the Citadel and Georgetown Law, and belonged to Delta Theta Phi. He retired as an attorney for the Central Intelligence Agency. Collins was a U.S. Air Force veteran and retired from the Air Force Reserve as a lieutenant colonel. He was a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and ASIS, and he belonged to St. Peter s Episcopal Church. He loved dancing and was especially fond of the tango and cha-cha. He also loved music and could sit down at a piano and play just about any tune. Quite accomplished in the kitchen, he made exceptional breakfast meals and soups. Collins lived in Alexandria, Va., all his adult life until retiring to Delaware in 1997. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Steve Ehrle of Delaware; a son, Stephen W. Collins of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; a grandson, Robert Collins Ehrle; and a brother, Samuel M. Collins of Spartanburg, S.C. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert O. Collins, and a sister, Marylouise Hubley. A memorial service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the Terrace Room of Willow Brook Christian Village, 100 Willow Brook Way S. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer s Association, 39 W. Winter St., Delaware, OH 43015.
