Vital Gilles Marcoux Vital Gilles Buddy Marcoux, 74, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Janice Marcoux. The service will be at 10 a.m. EDT Thursday at Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church, with burial at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT today at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, Timberlane Road Chapel (850-893-4177). Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1304 E. Sixth Ave., Tallahassee, FL 32303, or the American Cancer Society, 241 John Knox Road, Tallahassee, FL 32303. A native of Florida, he was born and raised in Lake Wales. He graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., served in the U.S. Army and retired as assistant secretary after 40 years with the Florida Department of Transportation. He was the recipient of many awards and recognitions while at the DOT. He most recently worked parttime as a vice president with Volker & Associates. He enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S., including Alaska. He loved sharing his adventures through his stories that he shared with all of his friends. A loving husband, dad and granddaddy, other survivors include two daughters, Karen Somerset (and husband Jesse) and Catherine; three grandchildren, Marcus, Sara and Emily Somerset; a brother, Paul Marcoux (and wife Jean); a sister, Sue Bailey; and several nieces and nephews.
