Thomas Stafford Tullis, 67, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Joyce Masters Tullis passed away at his home on Thursday, April 28, 2016. A celebration of his life will be held Monday, May 2, 2016 in Asbury-St. James United Methodist Church, 754 Rutledge Ave., at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 1, 2016 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Pkwy, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tom was born in Charleston, South Carolina on June 11, 1948 to the late Elmon J. and Dahlia R. Tullis. He served abroad during the Viet Nam era and returned to enter The Citadel as a veteran student in 1971. He graduated in 1974 as a Civil Engineer and shortly thereafter earned his Professional Engineer License. Tom retired from the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District, in 2010 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Asbury-St. James United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife of 46 years, Joyce, he is survived by a daughter, Tracy Tullis Nye of Savannah, GA; a son, Brian Thomas Tullis (Katina) of Chicago, IL; two grandsons, John Brian Tullis, and Thomas Christopher Tullis of Chicago, IL; and a brother, Winton E. Tullis (Camay) of Arroyo Grande, CA. Memorials may be made to Asbury-St. James United Methodist Church or the charity of one’s choice .
