Thomas Rhodes Williams, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2012 after being diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer in early March. Tommy was born on August 3, 1950 in Charlotte, NC to the late WJ “Chubby” and Louise Williams. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Marty; his two daughters, Lisa Williams Smith and her husband Brian and Nikki Williams; his three granddaughters, Anna, Sarah and Gracie; his sister, Suzanne W. Griffin and her husband Richard; and his niece and nephew. Tom was a native Charlottean. He played football and wrestled for Myers Park High School before graduating in 1968. He continued his education at The Citadel, and upon graduation in 1972 he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. After retiring from the Army, Tom began his illustrious career as CEO of various companies. He was well respected and loved by all who knew him and will be missed. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 17th 2012 at 1:00 pm at Sharon Memorial Park. Tags: 1972
