Thomas O. Haselton died on Monday, July 11, 2016. A celebration of his life will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Eustis at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016. Following the service family and friends will gather in the Fellowship Hall. Tom was born in Eustis, Florida, on February 1, 1928. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Lois Gibson Haselton and is survived by daughters Beth Carter (Wayne) of Tavares, Marie Long (Allen) of Tallahassee, and son Michael Haselton (Laura) of Tampa and three grandchildren Owen Long, Taylor Long and Kit Haselton and his much loved cat, Regit. He was a graduate of The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina and the University of Florida. He taught at Umatilla High School for many years retiring in 1988. In addition to his teaching duties he served as Athletic Director and was often found behind the wheel of the bus driving the athletes to the their various sporting activities, running the clock for basketball games and shooting the starting pistol for swim meets. He was actively involved with the Lions Club serving in several leadership roles, and the Lake County Retired Teachers Association. Music was a very special part of his life and he enjoyed singing in the church choir and with the Troubadours at Lakeview Terrace.
