Thomas Dwight Webb, 81, of Myrtle Beach passed from this life Friday February 6, 2026, peacefully at home with family.
Tom was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed golf, hunting, swimming, reading, and spending time with family and friends. He was witty, happy, and kind to everyone he met. Tom never met a stranger.
Tom was born May 1, 1944 in Greenville, NC to Thomas and Jane Garrett Webb. Tom attended The Citadel where he was Class Vice President, voted “Friendliest” senior, T-Company First Sergeant, chairman of the Beach House committee, and Cadet Major of the 4th Battalion Executive Officers.
After graduating from The Citadel in 1966, he joined the Air Force and completed pilot training at Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring, Texas. It was there he met the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Sara King Webb.
After completing training, Tom was a B-52 pilot and flew 138 missions in the Vietnam War from bases in Guam, Okinawa, and Thailand. Tom and Sara were married in 1969. After his discharge from the Air Force in 1971, he began his career in commercial plumbing sales in Virginia Beach, VA. After the birth of their son Jeff, Sara and Tom moved to Greensboro, NC. There they met many lifelong friends and welcomed the birth of their daughter, Julie.
The Webbs came to Myrtle Beach in 1980. Tom was general manager for Ferguson Enterprises and later for Longley Supply Company. He was a member of Trinity Anglican Church where he served on vestry and clergy search committees, was Junior Warden, ushered, and supported many other ministries. He was always ready and willing to help. He served as the chairman of the City of Myrtle Beach Planning & Zoning Committee for over 10 years. Later he worked with the Air Force Base Redevelopment Authority to establish the Market Commons community.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sara, son Jeff Webb (Lisa) of Charleston, SC and their children Nola, Caidyn and Thomas, daughter Julie Kinlaw (Riley) of Murrells Inlet, SC and their children Audrey and Melissa, brother-in-law Cornell Powers of Greenville, NC, nephews Todd (Martha) Liberty and Blake (Kris) Liberty. He was predeceased by his sister, Lou Powers, his sister-in-law, Nancy Liberty and his brother-in-law, Joe Liberty.
A memorial Service will be held at Trinity Church, 3000 N. Kings Hwy. Myrtle Beach SC 29577 on Saturday February 21, 2026 at 11:00 am.
