Class Ring Resize and Remake

Resize or Remake Your Citadel Class Ring

If your Citadel ring was made by Balfour, the following services are available at no charge to the original owner, except for a $45 shipping & handling fee:

  • Resize your ring
  • Re-engrave your ring
  • Remake your ring if your graduation year has changed
  • Clean, polish, and re-antique your ring

Note: The Balfour warranty is void if any work is performed by someone other than Balfour.

Turnaround Time & Shipping

Once your ring is received by the Citadel Ring Office, the resizing or remaking process generally takes about 10 weeks.

The finished ring will be shipped directly back to you:

  • Balfour ships via USPS
  • Jostens ships via UPS 2nd Day Air

Both carriers require a signature at delivery.

Please note: we do not receive tracking updates from the manufacturer once the ring has shipped.

Resizing Guidelines

Rings can be resized up to 1.5 sizes larger or smaller, but only once.

All resizing is subject to inspection by the manufacturer.

If your ring cannot be resized, you’ll be contacted before any work begins.

Cost:

  • Balfour or Jostens resize: $45

To begin, please complete the Resize/Remake Order Form and include it with your ring and payment.

Remaking Your Ring

If your size change is greater than 1.5 sizes, your ring will need to be remade.

How it works:

  • Your current ring will be traded in
  • You will receive a brand-new ring
  • The original gold will not be reused
  • Your old ring will not be returned

Cost:

  • Balfour ring remake: $45
  • Jostens ring remake: $45

Re-Engraving

Re-engraving is available at no cost when done as part of a resize or remake.

Finding the Correct Ring Size

If you are unable to visit the CAA Office in person, any reputable jeweler should be able to assist.

Please ensure the correct sizing tools are used:

  • Balfour rings (includes ArtCarved, JR/John Roberts, and Milestone): Use a round sizer
  • Jostens rings: Use an oval sizer
    • If only a round sizer is available, subtract ½ size from the measured size
  • Herff Jones rings: These must be handled directly by the manufacturer
    • For resizing or warranty service, call 1-800-837-4235 and ask for Robert Vaz, Sr. Customer Service Representative

Note: Rings engraved with “HJ 10K” cannot be resized or remade through the CAA.

Shipping Instructions

  1. Place your ring, completed order form, and payment in a padded envelope or small box.
  2. Use a trackable, insured shipping method (USPS, UPS, or FedEx).
  3. Do not send your original ring box – it will not be returned.
  4. The Citadel Ring Office sends rings to the manufacturer each Wednesday.
  5. Once received, allow approximately 10 weeks for completion and return shipment.

Ring Loss Protection Plan

  • Protects your ring against loss or theft within 4 years* of purchase.
  • Included with your ring purchase.
  • Replacement fees do apply.

If your ring is lost or stolen, Balfour will replace the jewelry. This plan is in effect for four years from the date of purchase on all original rings and is limited to a single replacement if your original jewelry during the four year period. Call The Citadel Ring Office for details to replace your lost or stolen ring.

With the purchase of the Extended Ring Loss Protection Plan, if your ring is lost or stolen, Balfour will replace it for up to ten years from the date of Ring Presentation for those who participated and the date of shipping from Balfour for all other orders (deductible applies). This plan must be purchased at the time of the original ring purchase. This plan is limited to a single replacement of your original Citadel ring during the ten-year period. Repairing defects in workmanship and resizing your ring is performed without charge except for shipping costs.

*All cadet, MECEP, STA-21, and Veteran students who participated in the Class Ring Presentation will be insured against loss or theft from 4 years of the date of their Ring Presentation. All alumni and other student rings will be insured against loss or theft for 4 years from the date of shipping from Balfour. This also applies for the Extended Ring Loss Protection Plan.
