Steve was given the gift of making and keeping lifelong friends. Two of his best friends were made in early life and he added many more dear friends over the years. Steve was loyal, honest, generous, and a straight shooter. He was not afraid to speak truth when necessary. Steve was not impressed nor driven by money or prestige. Steve was an avid lover of sports with The Citadel, South Carolina Gamecocks, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Chicago White Socks being his favorite teams. He always liked the underdog in any situation including his football picks. Steve had a dry wit and a good sense of humor which brought laughs to those around him.
