Stephen “Steve” Edward Mainous, 65, formerly of Westminster, husband of Karen Dickson Mainous, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at his residence.
Born in Easley, South Carolina, Steve was the son of the late Rev. Edward Lawrence Mainous and Dorothy Habben Mainous. Steve was retired from the Tribble Center where he was a S.L.P. Coordinator and a member of Westminster United Methodist Church. Steve graduated from the Citadel, Class of 1980, was a former youth leader at Berea Friendship United Methodist Church, and he enjoyed reading and fishing. Steve will be remembered for his steadfast faith in God, his devotion to his wife of 42 years, his overwhelming love for his children, grandchildren, and the impact he had on many lives.
Steve is survived by his loving wife; son, Zack Mainous (Krystal); daughter, Layton Mainous; brother, James D. Mainous (Susan); sister, Carolyn Mainous (PR Johnson); grandchildren, Connor and Marlie Kate Mainous; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends and family from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service at Sandifer Funeral Home.
