Samuel F. Sears, 79, of Apopka, Fla., died on September 8, 2016 at home in Apopka, FL. He was born and raised in Jasper, Florida. He graduated from Jasper High School and was an Eagle Scout. Mr. Sears graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, SC., with an electrical engineering degree in 1959. After a stint in the US Army, he moved to Orlando, Florida to be employed by the Martin Company and later with Texas Instruments. After a successful career in computer industry, Mr. Sears founded multiple construction companies including Countryside Pools and Spas. Mr. Sears was a founding member and elder of Wekiva Presbyterian Church. Mr. Sears retired from business in 2007. Mr. Sears is survived by his wife of 53 years, Becky Willis Sears. He is survived by his two sons, Christian Sears (wife Kristen), Howey-in-the-Hills, FL, and Samuel Sears Jr., (wife Staci), Greenville, NC., and five grandchildren, Christian David (The Citadel, Charleston, SC), Hannah (College of Charleston, Charleston, SC), & Parker Sears (Tavares HS, Howey-in-the-Hills, FL), Jackson (University of Florida, Gainesville, FL), and Brandon Sears (The Oakwood School, Greenville, NC). Mr. Sears was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. A private family gathering will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to The Class of ’59 Scholarship, The Citadel Foundation, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409-6230.
