Sam C. Sarkesian of Lake Zurich, IL. Visitation for Sam C. Sarkesian, 83, will be held on Thursday, Sept. 29, from 3 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich. Visitation will also be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, at St. James Armenian Church, 816 Clark St., Evanston. Interment will be in Irving Park Cemetery, Chicago. Sam was born on Nov. 7, 1927, in Chicago, the son of the late Charles and Khatoon (nee Baligian) Sarkesian, and passed away on Monday, Sept. 26, 2011. Sam retired after 23 years from the Army as lieutenant colonel (Airborne/Special Forces) having served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. Sam then went on to serve as a professor of political science at Loyola University of Chicago, (professor emeritus). He was the beloved husband of Jeanette Sarkesian; loving father of Gary (Kathy) Sarkesian, Joye (Rob) Connor and Guy (Sue) Sarkesian; dear grandfather of Casey, Nick, Andy, Sarah, Jack, Lizzy and Jessica; dear brother of Jerry Sarkesian and the late John Sarkesian.
