Russell Allison Jordan, 87, of Lodge, South Carolina, passed away in the comfort of a family home surrounded by his daughters and family Sunday afternoon, March 8, 2020. Russell was born in Lodge, South Carolina on April 10, 1932. He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond Wendell Jordan and Mabel Jones Jordan; a sister Miriam Jordan Davis; and Charlotte Crosby Jordan his loving wife of thirty-five years. Russell was an avid Historian in the truest sense. He was well versed in The Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. He also had a long-standing love for the Atlanta Braves Baseball organization. Throughout his life, he had many respected milestones. He graduated from The Citadel “Class of 1955” with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard and United States Army stateside during the Korean Conflict teaching and instructing Combustion Theory. Later years, he worked as an Electronics Engineer, providing his services throughout Georgia and South Carolina. Russell is survived by his daughters Kathryn Butler McLendon and husband Lewis Holmes McLendon of James Island, SC, Dianne Jordan Cooper of Charleston, SC four grandchildren Ashley Marie Butler, Justin Jordan Butler, Taylor Edward Butler and his wife Michelle Holland Butler and Kathryn Grace Cooper; Friend Caregiver Synovia White and husband Sam White; as well as Harry Cooper. Russell was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Amedisys Hospice, 1027 Physicians Drive, Suite 240, Charleston, South Carolina 29414. Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Saturday morning, March 14, 2020, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Lodge United Methodist Churchyard. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation this Friday evening from 6 o’clock until 8 o’clock at THE BRICE W.
