Ronald Wayne Bunch, age 61, husband of Virginia (Ginger) Jowers Bunch died December 26, 2008 in Bamberg County Hospital. Ronald was born May 25, 1947 in Orangeburg, SC to the late John (Candy) Bunch, Jr. and the late Agnes Mae Squires Bunch. He was a 1965 honor graduate of Bamberg High School, receiving a football scholarship to the University of SC, where he played from 1965 to 1969. he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He started his teaching career at Carlisle Military School, where he taught and coached football for two years. He received a Masters Degree from the SC State University in 1971 in secondary guidance and became the guidance counselor at Richard Carroll Junior High School and assistant football coach at Bamberg Ehrhardt High School. he also received an Education Specialist Degree from The Citadel and became the principal at Richard Carroll Junior High School. He also served as principal of Ehrhardt Elementary School for many years. He was currently serving as principal of Richard Carroll Primary School. An educator for 40 years, he was truly dedicated to his students and teachers and had a profound positive impact on the lives of those he served. From the time he was a young boy, he was an avid horseman. A member of the 4-H Club and the National Barrel Horse Association, he raised, trained and raced horses for many years. He was a faithful member of The First Baptist Church of Bamberg, where he served as a deacon and a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. Funeral services will be held December 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in First Baptist Church, Bamberg, SC, with Dr. Aubrey Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery. Pallbearers include Trey Benton, Carey Bunch, Keith Bunch, Marshall Bunch, Randy Bunch, Brian Darnell, JJ Jowers and Mike Mixson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jamie Barnes, Jamie Carter, Daniel Chassereau, Martin Drawdy, Jerry Halmon, Terry Hutto, Robbie Kearse, Randy Maxwell, Ricky Maxwell, Clifford Murph, Claude Rentz, Gene Schwarting, Dustin Sease, Skipper Smith, Ray Squires, Dick Weldon, Curtis Williams and Marvin Ziegler. Ronald is survived by his wife of 41 years; one daughter, Rhonda (Bunny) and Robin Herron; two sons, Ronald W. Bunch, Jr. (Buzzy and Bobbi) and Johnathon Bradford Bunch and Leah; one sister, Sheryl and George Benton, Jr.; one brother, Allen K. and Sallye C. Bunch; and sister-in-law, Mrs. John Randall Bunch (Delores); grandchildren, Corey and Kali Herron; Blaze, Ray Ellen and Roxy Bunch; Aden and Colt Bunch; and a number of special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Randal Bunch. Visitation will be Sunday, December 28, 2008 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 11823 Heritage Hwy., Bamberg, SC 29003 or to the Bamberg County Hospital and Nursing Foundation.
