Ronald Bonola, 88, of Columbia, Rocky Hill, and Newington CT and Naples Florida, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Son of the late John and Helen (Helenski) Bonola of West Hartford, beloved husband of Karen (Sobanski) Bonola for 40 years. Ron grew up in West Hartford, He attended Elmwood Elementary, Talcott Junior High school and William H. Hall High School. After graduation, he attended college at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. He also attended the University of Hartford where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, and his Master of Science degree in Organizational Behavior. Ron served in the Air National Guard from 1953 until 1964 and served at several regional locations. He retired with the rank of Staff Sergeant from the Air Police Unit. He also spent his entire professional career employed by Connecticut Mutual where he retired after 32 years as Director of Customer Services in 1989. In addition, he also served the Town of Newington as a Reserve Police Officer for 31 years from 1964 to 1995. As a resident of the Town of Rocky Hill, he served on various committees and commissions, both elected and appointed. He also served as Constable for a few years in Rocky Hill. He also volunteered for a number of good causes throughout the years. While living in Naples, Florida, he was a proud supporter of the Florida Sheriffs Association a non-profit supporting a number of worthy causes, including its work with teenagers. Ronald leaves behind his beloved wife Karen, his daughter Ronda and her husband Gregory Hohman, his son David and his wife Nancy, his grandchildren Jennifer and her husband Jonathan Uhl, Kaitlin Hohman and fiancé Dustin Dube, Marisa Bonola and fiancé Michael Buckson, and Juliana Bonola, also his great granddaughters Hannah Rose and Ainsley Grace. He is predeceased be his brother Paul J. Bonola and his parents. He also leaves many cherished family and friends from Connecticut and Florida while living his best life. He also leaves his devoted companion, a cat named Buddy, who misses him dearly. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 28th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington.
