Rodney Legare Hairfield, 75, of Sumter, peacefully went to his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 18, 2024, due to a 5 years battle with colon cancer. Born on December 11, 1948, in Roanoke, VA, he was a son of the late Clyde M. Hairfield and the late Virginia R. Hairfield. Mr. Hairfield was a graduate of Bishop England High School Class of 1966 where he was a member of the band. He was a graduate of The Citadel Class of 1970 where he was a member of the elite precision drill platoon, The 1970 Summerall Guards. He honorably served his country for 6 years in the Army Reserves. Mr. Hairfield had an accomplished career in Charleston as a Certified Public Accountant for over 45 years. He lived a life filled with caring for his family, friends, and clients. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Michele, five children, Benjamin Hairfield (Emily), Julie Hairfield, Madeline Hairfield, Alex Hairfield (Emily), Caroline Hairfield; and one granddaughter, McKenna Hairfield. Mr. Hairfield is also survived by three of his brothers, Steven Hairfield (Beth), Kim Hairfield (Barbara), and Wendell Hairfield (Melinda), along with his sister-in-law, Pat Hairfield. In addition, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Hairfield. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC 29414. This will be followed by a celebration of life service at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in honor of Rodney to First Baptist Church, 107 E. Liberty Street, Sumter, SC 29150.
