Robert Reid Farie, Jr., of Hiawassee, Ga., died peacefully in his home, Monday, November 7, 2022. He left behind in Hiawassee a Sister, Elizabeth Nelson, and Nephew, Joshua Nelson, and many friends. Bob was married earlier to Margaret “Peggy” Elaine Green, while living in Charleston, SC. Bob’s second wife, while living in Plano, TX, was Saundra Suzanne Holloway, who had two children by an earlier marriage, Heather and Blake.
He was born in Greenville, SC, graduated from The Citadel and for most of his life worked selling Business Data Systems in SC and TX, and later as the Project Manager in commercial construction projects in the Midwest. He left the business world to manage construction for a large Arabian Horse farm in Texas.
Bob moved to Hiawassee in 2008 for his all time favorite work as Ranch Manager for the Upper Hightower Clydesdale Farm. He loved these gentle giant horses and shared them on Saturday tours, wedding cart rides, and as Santa on his sleigh in parades.
A Memorial will be held Saturday, November 19th at 11:00am at the Upper Hightower Baptist Church, Hiawassee.
