Dr. Robert Mabry Scoville, MD, of Pineville, NC, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour with Reverend Gordon Hamilton and Reverend Weyman Camp, officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, February 7, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Dr. Robert Mabry Scoville was born September 17, 1938 in Barnwell, SC to John Perreyclear Scoville and Annie Harrell Mabry Scoville. He graduated from The Citadel in the class of 1960. He graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1964 and from there went on to the University of Virginia for a year’s internship. A lifelong patriot, Dr. Scoville spent the next two years in the United States Air Force as a flight medical officer assigned to the 3rd Tactical Fighter Wing in Bien Hoa, Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service and the Air Medal. After his residency in Orthodpaedic Surgery, Dr. Scoville joined the Rock Hill Orthopaedic Clinic where he practiced until his retirement in 2000. He was a fellow of the American Board of Orthopaedics and a member of many professional organizations. He served on many community boards. He was a member of The Epsicopal Church of Our Saviour in Rock Hill and a Friend of Trinity Episcopal Church on Edisto Island. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Charles Baxley Scoville; his daughters, Elizabeth Perreyclear Scoville Crippen (Michael), Lydia Charles Scoville Darby (Robert), Ann Mabry Scoville Morrison (Thomas); four grandchildren, Teller Ann Crippen, Elizabeth Baxley Crippen, Robert Scoville Crippen, and Scoville Charles Darby; and his brother, John Perreyclear Scoville, Jr. Memorials may be made in Dr. Scoville’s name to York Place, 234 Kings Mountain Street, York, SC 29745; Pilgrim’s Inn, 236 West Main Street, Rock Hill, SC 29730; Trinity Episcopal Church, 1589 State Highway 174, Edisto Island, South Carolina 29438 or The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, 144 Caldwell Street, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
