Dr. Robert C. White passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, February 11, 2010, surrounded by his loving family members. Dr. White was a Florida native and long time Bradenton resident. Born in Pensacola, Florida, Dr. White moved to Bradenton in 1961 and resided here for the remainder of his life. He was a graduate of the Citadel Military College in South Carolina and the University of Miami (Florida) Medical School. Dr White practiced medicine in Bradenton for over 40 years. He was one of the founders of Blake Medical Center and was on staff of both Manatee Memorial Hospital and Blake Medical Center throughout his career. Dr. White made house calls to his patients up until his retirement from full-time practice in 1999. He was a member of the Manatee County School Board in the 1960’s and a staunch supporter of desegregation in public schools. Dr. White liked nothing more than to help others, in his off time he was an avid golfer and an accomplished fisherman. Predeceased by his daughter, Laurel Ann White, Dr. White is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joann White, his children, Robert (Terry) White, Jr., Amy (Mike) Helmer, Jennifer (Joel) King, Andrew ( Katy) White, Timothy (Christy) White, and his beloved grandchildren, Emily, Caleb, Hunter, Ansley, Abigail, Annabelle, Andrew, Jr. and Charlotte. Memorial Visitation will be 4:00-5:00 P.M. Thursday, February 18, 2010 with Memorial Service to follow at 5:00 P.M. at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209.
