Robert Charles “Bob” Curtis, Sr., 86, of Kinston, N.C., passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel at Edwards Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 23 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 7:00 P.M. Bob was born in Columbia, SC on October 24, 1935, to Robert Arnold and Marcella Deal Curtis. He graduated from Grainger High School in 1954 and from The Citadel in 1958, where he was a member of the Flag and Salute Gun Detail. After graduation, he was drafted and served his country honorably in the U. S. Army and the U. S. Army Reserve. Bob was a Past President of the Kinston Jaycees and Key Man. He also served on the East Carolina Boy Scout Council and the Civil Air Patrol. He was active and served as President of Christ The King Catholic School and a Parish Board member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Bob was instrumental in starting the Dental Hygiene School at Wayne Community College in Goldsboro. He was a member of the Board of Directors at Wachovia Bank and Trust Company. Bob was a member of the BPOE 740 Elks Lodge and served on the Board of Adjustments for the City of Kinston. He also served as President and General Manager of Curtis Construction and Roofing Company and for many years and owner and President of Curtis and Curtis, Inc. . He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 62 years, Faye Fitzgerald Curtis; son, Robert Charles Curtis, Jr., and fiance, Holly Griffin; daughter, Karen Curtis Albrecht; grandsons, Robert Charles Curtis III, Blake A. Curtis, and wife, Brooke, Alan Charles Albrecht, and Aaron Curtis Albrecht; one great grandson, Boedi Charles Curtis; and sister, Anne Curtis Waller. In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by a son, David Wayne Curtis.
