Ramona (Mona) Faye Sigmon, 65, of Goose Creek, S.C., passed away at her residence Friday, December 16, 2016. The family will hold a visitation 3 to 5 pm, Sunday, December 18 at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 2 pm, Monday, December 19 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in St. Matthews, S.C. Burial will follow in West End Cemetery. For Charleston friends, a memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 22 at 11 am, Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 4990 Dorchester Rd., North Charleston, S.C. Mona was born May 31, 1951 in Orangeburg to Carmet Ray Sigmon and the late Marian Frieda Stoudenmire Sigmon. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and received her Masters Degree from the Citadel. She spent her career with children’s education and retired as a physical education teacher from E.A. Burns Elementary School in Charleston County. Mona was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church of St. Matthews. Mona was loved by everyone who knew her. She was kind, patient, nurturing and giving. Her love for her dad and her family was endless. The family reunions she orchestrated every year were classics. She was a caregiver to anyone in need. To know Mona was to love her. She loved to give hugs, to laugh and she always had a smile on her face. Her friends and her church were a huge part of her life and she loved her pug, Kailey. In retirement Mona found an “extended family” at The Bridge, an assisted living facility, where she called “Bingo” on Mondays and socialized with the residents. She will be forever missed by her family, friends, and special friend, Vikki. Surviving include her father, of St. Matthews; brother, Ray Sigmon (Cheryl) of Columbia; sister, Marian Hodge (Gene) of Guyton, Ga.; a special friend, Vikki Doub of Goose Creek; her Chinese Pug, Kailey; nieces, Ashley Truluck (Chuck ), Beth Freeman (Hunter), Caroline Fields (Jarad) and Erin Woodcock (JR); and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
