KiddJr.,Dr.RalphVincent Dr. Ralph Vincent Kidd, Jr. M.D. Dr. Kidd, 85, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2007, at Asbury Care Center. Born April 27, 1922, he was the son of the late Ralph Vincent Kidd, Sr. and the late Hazel Brown Kidd. Dr. Kidd graduated from the Citadel in 1944 and from Tulane University Medical School in 1947. After serving as a LTJG on the USS Repose Naval Hospital Ship during the Korean War, he returned to Charlotte where he began a medical practice that lasted decades. Dr. Kidd was known by his friends, family and patients as a compassionate caring physician who pursued many interests including painting and golf. Over the years, he gave back to his community by volunteering at various charitable hospitals. He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife and mother of his children Frances Kidd, second wife Betty Daniels Kidd, and a brother, William Kidd. He is survived by his sister Jane Grist, sons Ralph Vincent Kidd III, Gregory Stewart Kidd, and Robert Boyd Kidd, step-daughter Cathy Cartledge and eight grandchildren: Ralph Kidd IV, John Kidd, Michael Kidd, Frannie Kidd, Bruce Kidd, Chelsea Kidd, Jessie Kidd, Joe Kidd, and 4 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the nurses, staff, and CNA’s at Asbury Care, who looked after Dr. Kidd for the last 2 years. Their compassion and dedication exceeded all expectations and a special note of thanks to CNA Benita for her extraordinary care. The family will receive friends at 1:30 Saturday, September 29, at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home on East Blvd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
