Patrick A. “Pat” Graneto, retired lumber broker and longtime Cedar Mill, Ore., resident, died Aug. 5, 2022, after suffering a heart attack at his home. He was 84.
Pat was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., May 27,1938. After schooling in New York City, he graduated from The Citadel military college in Charleston, S.C.
Pat joined the garment industry in New York, becoming a retail buyer for the Lane Bryant apparel chain. In 1963, he and Dorothy “Katie” Sonnemann of Chehalis, Wash., were married in Chehalis. Seeking to relocate to the West Coast, Pat joined Meier & Frank Co., which transferred him to Portland. He later moved to the lumber brokerage business, supplying timber products to Brojack Lumber in Pennsylvania. In Cedar Mill, Pat got involved in youth activities, coaching soccer with the Milltown Soccer Club and directing the local Y Indian Guides chapter.
Along with Katie, he is survived by two sons, Todd, with daughter-in-law, Nicole, and Douglas, with his husband, Dr. S. Wear Culvahouse, in Greenwich, Conn. Three grandchildren also survive, Jordan (Haley) Graneto, Adam Graneto, Kathleen Culvahouse; and great-granddaughter, Luca.
A celebration of life has been held. Private interment services will be scheduled later.
