Dr. Owen Clinton Bush, Ed.D., 56, of 4628 Hyde Ave., North Charleston, died Thursday, January 30, 2003, at his residence. Dr. Bush was born in Macon, Ga., a son of the late Clinton Cargill Bush and Mrs. Frances Compton Bush. He received his B.A. from Florida State University, A Master of Arts in Teaching and Education Specialist degree from the Citadel, and earned his Doctorate in Education Administration from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Bush was currently serving as District 4 Superintendent of Charleston County Schools. Dr. Bush was a Captain in the S.C. State Guard, a member of Phi Delta Kappa Education Fraternity, the Rotary Club, the National Education Association, the National Organization of School Administrators, the S.C. Education Association, the Association of School Curriculum Development and the Council for Exceptional Children. He was a Catholic. Surviving: his wife, Mrs. Jewell Ballentine Bush of North Charleston; one daughter, Amber Lynn Bush of North Charleston; an aunt, Dixie Brown of Ventura, Calif. A memorial Mass was held Monday in Divine Redeemer Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Kingstree. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the American Cancer Society.
