Oliver Bond Bath, Jr., age 96, of New Johnsonville, TN, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at TriStar Horizon Medical Center in Dickson, TN. Mr. Bath was born October 8, 1925, in Andrews, SC, to Oliver Bond Bath, Sr. and Mary Vivian Pipkin Bath. He was married to the late Ethel Marie Perry Bath in 1948.
He was a graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, SC and earned his B. S. degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the South Pacific in World War II.
Mr. Bath was a retired Electrical Engineer from Foote Mineral in New Johnsonville, TN. He was a member of the New Johnsonville First United Methodist Church and Methodist Men, where he served many years as Lay Leader, Finance Chairman, Chairman of Official Board, and several other offices. His Masonic affiliations include Past Master of Friendship Lodge #9 AFM , Charleston, SC, Past District Deputy Grand Master, 1st Masonic District, Charleston, SC, 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Charlotte Consistory, Charlotte, NC, Shrine – Oasis Temple A. A. O. N. M. S. in Charlotte, NC. He was a member of the VFW McKee Post 3142 in Charleston, SC. He served on City Council of New Johnsonville for 8 years and Planning Commission for 16 years. Mr. Bath was also a former member of the Board of Directors at Nautilus Hospital in Waverly, TN.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, May 13, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until funeral service time at 3:00 p.m., at the New Johnsonville First United Methodist Church , 718 Woodland Drive, New Johnsonville, TN. Rev. Ricky Lee and Rev. Sylvia Cagle will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in the Methodist Cemetery in New Johnsonville, TN.
Survivors include 4 children: Michael Lewis Bath (Sherry), Oak Ridge, TN, Andrew Grier Bath (Elaine), New Johnsonville, TN, Timothy Miles Bath (Donna), Murfreesboro, TN, and Linda Marie Knight (Jimmy), Lewisburg, TN
12 Grandchildren: Daniel Knight (Tammy), Alexander Bath (Dawn), Bobbie Bath (Brandi), Timothy Miles Bath, Jr., Maria Bath Barnes (Kirk), Amber Walker, Adam Walker, Dylan Walker (Shelby), Devin Ward (Johanna), Justin Ward (Kelly), Dylan McDaniel, and Lindsey Phelps (James)
