NC “Teak” Edgeworth, 73, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012 at his residence after a short battle with cancer. Mr. Edgeworth was born Nov. 1, 1938 in Conway, S.C. He was the son of the late Reba Williams and Stanley N. Edgeworth. Teak graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in 1956 where he was an outstanding baseball player there and also in American Legion Baseball. He attended Clemson College on a baseball scholarship where he played on the first Clemson team to go to the College World Series. He went on to complete his education at The Citadel with the class of 1963, Romeo Company. He moved to Salisbury in 1977 as a banker, eventually joining Home Federal Savings and Loan and retiring from Sun Trust Bank. He was a past board member of the Country Club of Salisbury where he enjoyed playing golf. He loved going to his beach house in Cherry Grove and sitting on his front porch or on the beach. Teak was a member of the First Methodist Church of Salisbury. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Elizabeth “Betsey” Walters Edgeworth; sons, R. Reid Edgeworth (Lynn) of Peachtree City, Ga., J. Stanley Edgeworth (Jaynee) of Monroe, Ga.; step-son, Anders S. Johansson (Kelley) of Apex; sister, Martha Ann E. Goller (Bob) of Myrtle Beach, S.C; and grandchildren, Jonathon, Kimberly, Connor and Bailey Edgeworth and Anders and Annika Johansson. Services: A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steve Haines and Rev. Stan Smith officiating.
