LTG David Wilson has shown exceptional dedication and achievement throughout his military career. He has commanded at every level up to the rank of major general and now serves as the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-9, for the Department of the Army. In 2016, he was selected as commandant of the Army Ordnance School in Fort Lee, Va., becoming only the third African-American officer to hold that position since the school’s founding in 1812. His recent promotion to lieutenant general marks him as the first African-American graduate of The Citadel to achieve this rank.
LTG Wilson remains actively engaged with The Citadel community. In May 2024, he served as the guest speaker for the U.S. Army ROTC Commissioning Ceremony, exemplifying his ongoing commitment to Citadel alumni and future leaders.
