Dr. Raymond M. Bost

Hometown: Hickory, NC
- Bost served as President of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, President of Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, NC, and President of Newberry College in Newberry, SC. He retired as President Emeritus of Newberry College in 1995.
- Bost attended The Citadel from 1942-1943, before leaving to enlist in the USMC during World War II where he served as a radar operator in the Pacific Theater. After military service, Bost earned a degree in History at Lenoir-Rhyne College and a Master's and Doctor of Philosophy degree from Yale University. He was ordained by the North Carolina Synod of the United Lutheran Church in America in 1952.
