MGen Harry Pickett, USMC

Class of 1911

A marine and a participant in the first military engagements of the U.S. in both WW1 and WW11. Upon US entry into The Great War on 7 Apr 1917 he and other marines boarded a German ship docked at Guam and helped capture the crew. On 7 Dec 1941 he was in command of Marine Barracks Pearl Harbour and a participant in the action that day against attacking Japanese aircraft. During his long career he distinguished himself by developing the defenses of marine positions in the Pacific Theatrein WW11  and utilizinghis  key command positions to greatly enhance training and retention of both the USMC and US Army.
