A. Lee Chandler

Hometown: Orangeburg, SC
- Chandler attended The Citadel from 1939-1943. His entire class was required to enlist in military service during World War II. Chandler was commissioned as a 2d Lieutenant in 1944, and served in Germany where he was wounded in action and awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
- Chandler was admitted to practice law in South Carolina in 1947, and was elected to the SC House of Representatives in from 1972-1976. In 1976 he was elected a Circuit Court Judge and in 1984 he was elected as an Associate Justice of the SC Supreme Court. In 1994 Chandler was elected Chief Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court.
- Following his retirement from the SC Supreme Court, Chandler graduated from the Vocation Diaconate School of the Diocese of SC, and was ordained a Deacon for the Servanthood Ministry on September 2, 1999. He served as Deacon at St. Matthews of Darlington SC and St. Andrews of Mt. Pleasant, SC.
