1st Honor Graduate of the Class of 1921.Ranking American officer posted to the Chinese Army in WWII, he retired in 1959. Prior to entering service he started Arthur State Bank during The Great Depression when most banks were failing. In 1995 it was named as one of the 25 safest banks in the U.S. for depositors. He also owned a chain of department stores, hosiery mills, and cattle farms prior to being called to active duty in WWII.
